420MT more rice arrives from India through Benapole

Another consignment of 420 tonnes of rice has arrived from India through Benapole land port in Jashore.

Twelve trucks carrying 420 tonnes of Indian rice entered Bangladesh on Wednesday evening, August 27, Benapole port's director Shamim Hossain confirmed on Thursday afternoon, August 28.

Earlier, 210 tonnes of rice entered from India on Wednesday, August 27, and 315 tonnes of rice arrived from the neighbouring country on August 21, he said.

With this, the government imported a total of 945 tonnes of rice from India in three consignments in a bid to keep the local market stable.

The officials concerned have been directed for swift clearance of the imported rice, said Benapole port director Shamim.
