Bangladesh sealed the three-match T20 series against the Netherlands with a game to spare, completing a comprehensive 2-0 victory with a commanding win in the second match at the Sylhet International Cricket Stadium.
Chasing a modest target of 104 runs, the Tigers raced to victory in just 13.1 overs, losing only one wicket and finishing with 41 balls to spare, an even wider margin than their first-match triumph.
Opener Parvez Hossain Emon was the lone dismissal, bowled by Kyle Klein for a brisk 23 off 21 balls, with the team already 40 runs ahead. That brief setback did little to slow the onslaught, as Tanjid Hasan Tamim and Liton Das stormed towards the target with a 64-run, unbroken partnership.
Tamim, in commanding form, remained unbeaten on 54 off 40 balls, lashing four boundaries and two sixes, while Liton Das held firm at the other end, finishing on 18 not out off 18 balls.
Netherlands crumble for 103
After losing the toss and being asked to bat, the Netherlands were bundled out for just 103 in 17.3 overs, their innings undermined by disciplined Bangladeshi bowling.
Aryan Dutt top-scored with 30 off 24, while Vikramjit Singh added 24 and Sharij Ahmed contributed 12, but no other batter crossed double digits.
Bangladesh’s spin-seam attack shared the spoils. Nasum Ahmed led the charge with 3 wickets, while Taskin Ahmed and Mustafizur Rahman each claimed 2 wickets. Mehedi Hasan Miraz and Tanjim Shakib chipped in with one scalp apiece.
Series in the bag, momentum building
With the series victory confirmed and the final match yet to be played, Bangladesh now looks ahead with growing confidence. The batting has clicked, the bowling has dominated, and the team is peaking at the right time.
Captain Liton Das praised the collective effort: “We wanted to be clinical, and we were. The bowlers set it up, and the batters finished it. That’s how we want to play.”
The final T20I will be played on Wednesday, with Bangladesh aiming for a clean sweep and the Netherlands desperate to salvage pride.
For now, though, it’s all Tigers and the roar is getting louder.
