A young man was shot dead in front of his house in Rupsa Upazila, Khulna, on Thursday night.
The deceased has been identified as Imran Hossain Manik, 34.
The incident took place in Jaipur village along the Khulna-Mongla highway, near an Airtel mobile tower.
According to police, Manik was traveling by van toward Ilaipur when several criminals blocked his path and fired two consecutive shots. One bullet struck him in the head, killing him on the spot. Locals, alerted by the gunfire, found his body and informed the authorities.
Mafuzur Rahman, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Rupsa Police Station, confirmed that Manik was shot in front of his own house. He was reportedly a member of a prominent local criminal group. Preliminary investigations indicate that the killing may have been due to an internal conflict. His body has been sent to Khulna Medical College Hospital morgue for autopsy.
