Rural Electrification officers and staff who have been absent under the banner of a mass strike demanding four-point demands have been directed to return to their respective workplaces within 24 hours, failing which legal action will be taken. The Power Division disclosed this in a press release on Sunday (September 7).
The statement said uninterrupted electricity supply is an essential service, and obstructing or disrupting it is a punishable offense under the Essential Services Act. Efforts are underway to address the demands of the Rural Electrification officers and staff, and the government is taking the matter seriously.
Officers and staff involved in electricity supply in rural areas and currently absent under the mass strike have been instructed to resume duty within 24 hours, or face legal action.
The officers and staff went on an indefinite mass strike from Sunday over four demands, including elimination of workplace discrimination and stopping harassment, causing inconvenience to customers.
