Professor Dr. Muhammad Yunus, Chief Adviser of the interim government and Chairperson of the National Consensus Commission, said political parties must reach a consensus to build a new Bangladesh ahead of the February elections. “In this regard, we have no room for failure,” he added.
Speaking at a meeting between political parties and the Consensus Commission at the Foreign Service Academy on Bailey Road in Dhaka on Sunday (14 September), the Chief Adviser emphasised the importance of unity.
“This is our only opportunity, and we must seize it. There is no way to deviate from this. Consensus—unity—whatever you call it, when it comes time for the election, we must all go forward in agreement. We will not leave any room for disagreement,” he said.
He further stated that the election will be held in the first half of February. “It will be a grand election. The nation will experience a true rebirth,” he added.
