Bangladesh girls fall 3-0 to Chinese University team in friendly match

Bangladesh’s Elite Academy girls’ team suffered a 3–0 defeat against the China University of Women’s Football side in a friendly match held on Saturday at the Dhaka National Stadium.

The exhibition game was organised jointly by the Chinese Embassy in Dhaka and the Bangladesh Football Federation (BFF) to mark 50 years of diplomatic relations between Bangladesh and China.

The young Bangladeshi side showed promise in the opening minutes, creating a few chances up front. But the Chinese players soon asserted their dominance, with Jiang Ji netting twice—once in first-half injury time and again in the 83rd minute. Cheng Jitong sealed the victory with a late strike in the 88th minute.

Despite the loss, officials praised the competitive spirit of the Bangladeshi players, who were up against a technically stronger Chinese side.

The stands were dotted with distinguished guests, including BNP Standing Committee member Mirza Abbas, Dr. Abdul Moyeen Khan, and Vice-Chairman Altaf Hossain Chowdhury. BFF President Tabith Awal, Women’s Wing Chairperson Mahfuza Akhter Kiran, and other federation officials were also present.

National women’s football captain Afeeda Khandaker Pranti, along with several senior players, attended the match to show support for the academy girls.
