Nine more prosecution witnesses on Sunday gave depositions in three graft cases related to the allocation of three plots in the Purbachal area to ousted former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, her sister Sheikh Rehana, Sheikh Rehana's daughters Tulip Rizwana Siddiq and Azmina Siddiq, her son Radwan Mujib Siddiq, and several others.
Judge Md Rabiul Alam of the Special Judge Court-4, Dhaka, recorded the depositions and scheduled October 6 for hearing other prosecution witnesses.
Of the nine, four witnesses—Mohammad Farhaduzzaman, Executive General Manager of Eastern Housing Ltd; Sheikh Shamsher Ali, Operative Director; Himel Chandra Das, Assistant Executive; and Akter Jahan, Administrative Officer at the Housing Ministry—gave depositions in a case filed against 17 people, including Sheikh Hasina.
They also testified in another plot allocation case filed against 18 people. Housing Ministry Administrative Officer Akter Jahan additionally gave statements in a separate case filed against 18 people.
Public Prosecutor of the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) Mir Ahmmed Ali Salam shared the information.
ACC Deputy Director Salah Uddin filed a case on January 13 against 15 people, including Sheikh Hasina and Sheikh Rehana, over the allocation of a 10-katha plot at the Purbachal New Town Project.
On the same day, ACC Assistant Director Afnan Jannat Keya filed another case against 16 people, including Sheikh Hasina, Tulip Siddiq, and Azmina Siddiq, for another plot allocation at the same project.
ACC Assistant Director SM Rashedul Hassan also filed a case on January 13 against 16 people, including Sheikh Hasina, her nephew Radwan Mujib Siddiq, and niece Tulip Rizwana Siddiq, for allocation of a third 10-katha plot.
Charges were framed in these cases on July 31, and arrest warrants were issued as the accused remained absconding.
