5 more die from dengue, 668 hospitalised in 24 hrs

Five more deaths were reported from dengue in the last 24 hours, taking the total number of fatalities from the mosquito-borne disease to 187 this year.

Of the new deaths, three were reported in Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) and two in Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC).

During the period, 668 more patients were hospitalised with the viral fever, raising the total cases to 43,841 to date this year, the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) said in a statement today (September 24).

Of the new cases, 158 were recorded in Barishal division (outside the city corporation), 106 in Chattogram division (outside the city corporation), 126 in Dhaka division (outside the city corporation), 94 in Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC), and 73 in Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC).

Besides, 41 cases were recorded in Khulna division (outside the city corporation), 30 in Mymensingh division (outside the city corporation), 35 in Rajshahi division (outside the city corporation), and five in Rangpur division (outside the city corporation).
