Heavy rainfall likely in 8 divisions for three days

The Bangladesh Meteorological Department has forecast heavy to very heavy rainfall across the country’s eight divisions, warning of possible landslides and waterlogging.

In a special weather alert issued on Wednesday (October 1), the Met office said that under the influence of a well-marked low over the west-central Bay of Bengal and adjoining areas, along with an active monsoon, heavy (44–88 mm in 24 hours) to very heavy (up to 188 mm in 24 hours) rainfall is likely to occur in Rangpur, Rajshahi, Dhaka, Mymensingh, Khulna, Barishal, Chattogram, and Sylhet divisions during the next 72 hours from 9 am Wednesday.

The alert also stated that due to heavy to very heavy rainfall, landslides may occur in some hilly areas of Chattogram division, while temporary waterlogging may develop in parts of Dhaka and Chattogram metropolitan areas.
