The Central Executive Council of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami has declared the July National Charter a pivotal milestone in the country’s political history and demanded that it be legally recognised through a national referendum.
The party further insisted that the upcoming parliamentary elections be held in accordance with the principles of the charter.
The council convened on Tuesday, 7 October, at 7 pm at the party’s central party amir Dr Shafiqur Rahman in the chair.
The meeting was attended by the nayeb-e-amir, secretary general, assistant secretaries general, and other members of the Central Executive Council.
During the session, participants extensively reviewed the current political landscape, public expectations, and the evolving context surrounding the forthcoming national elections. The council stressed that the people of Bangladesh are demanding a free, fair, and widely acceptable electoral process and called for equal opportunity and a conducive environment for all political parties to operate independently.
In line with this, Jamaat-e-Islami reiterated its call for nationwide support for its previously announced five-point demands, urging all party units and citizens to actively engage in realising these objectives.
The meeting concluded with an appeal for the cooperation and prayers of the public to ensure the welfare of the nation, the establishment of justice and truth, and the transformation of Bangladesh into a peaceful, just, and prosperous state.
