49th special BCS exam begins

The multiple-choice question (MCQ) written examination of the 49th BCS (Special) Examination 2025 began in Dhaka on Friday morning. The exam started at 10:00 am and will conclude at 12:00 pm.

A total of 312,000 job applicants applied to take part in the examination. Through this BCS, 683 education cadre officers will be recruited, meaning that more than 456 candidates are competing for each position.

Unlike regular BCS exams, the Special BCS does not have a preliminary test. Candidates appear directly for the written examination, which is conducted in MCQ format for 200 marks. Those who pass the written test will then take a 100-mark viva voce.

The Public Service Commission (PSC) published the notification for the 49th Special BCS on July 21. Online applications opened on July 22 and continued until August 22. Applicants who completed their applications within the specified period were given an additional 72 hours, until 11:59 pm on August 25, to pay the application fee.
