Fifteen Bangladesh Army officers named in a chargesheet filed by the International Crimes Tribunal (ICT) have been placed in military custody in Dhaka, according to the Adjutant General of the Bangladesh Army, Major General Md Hakimuzzaman.
Speaking at a press conference held at the Dhaka Cantonment Officers’ Mess on Saturday, October 11, Major General Hakimuzzaman confirmed that 14 of the officers are currently serving, while one is on LPR (Leave Preparatory to Retirement).
“The 15 officers against whom the chargesheet has been filed are now in military custody in Dhaka,” he said. “We had requested 16 individuals to report for custody, and 15 have complied so far.”
The development marks a significant step in the ICT’s proceedings involving military personnel, as the tribunal investigates alleged crimes against humanity committed during the Awami League regime.
