Balloting in the elections to the Rajshahi University Central Students' Union (RUCSU) and hall unions ended on Thursday afternoon, October 16, without any major untoward incidents.
The voting concluded at all 17 polling centres at 4:00pm which began at 9:00am.
Seventy-two per cent votes were cast in the elections, said RUCSU Election Commissioner Dr Prof Mostafa Kalam Akand.
After the completion of the voting, ballot papers are being taken to the Kazi Nazrul Islam Auditorium with tight security from where the results will be announced, he said.
There are a total of 28,901 voters – 39.1 per cent female and 60.9 per cent male – in the elections.
Some 305 candidates are contesting for 23 RUCSU posts, 58 candidates for 5 Senate seats, and 555 candidates for 255 posts across 17 Hall Unions.
