NCC gets 15 more days’ term

The government has extended the tenure of the National Consensus Commission (NCC) for 15 more days.

The Cabinet Division issued a notification on Thursday, October 16, extending the tenure till October 31.

The National Consensus Commission headed by Chief Adviser Prof Muhammad Yunus was formed on February 12 this year, and it was asked to submit its report within the next six months.

Accordingly, the term of the Commission was supposed to end on August 15 but it was prolonged in two phases as the Commission failed to complete its activities within the stipulated period.

The Consensus Commission was tasked to consider and take the recommendations of six reform commissions. In continuation of this, the NCC reached a political consensus on the state reforms after holding dialogues with political parties.
