Shafiqul Alam, Press Secretary to the Chief Adviser, said, “All political parties are united regarding the February elections. The elections will be held in the first half of February. It will be the best election in Bangladesh’s history.”
He made the remarks around 10:00 am on Friday (October 24) after paying tribute with flowers at the July Martyrs’ Memorial near the Nabaganga River bridge in Magura.
Shafiqul Alam added, “The general public will come out to vote. There have been four student council elections with high voter turnout. Everyone will participate in the national elections.”
He further said, “During the past 17 years under Hasina, none of us could exercise our right to vote. Hasina’s MPs used to take bribes. In every election, representatives were chosen in exchange for money. That money went to the ruling party leaders, preventing the public from voting.”
Shafiqul Alam emphasised, “The entire nation is prepared for the elections. All institutions involved in the process have already started working on it. Once the monsoon season ends, the election atmosphere will reach every neighborhood and community.”
