Dhaka Board gets 1.36 lakh HSC script review requests

Following the worst Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) results in two decades, the Dhaka Education Board has been flooded with requests from students seeking re-evaluation of their answer scripts.

According to the Dhaka Board, a total of 1,36,506 applications have been submitted for rechecking of exam scripts.

Professor SM Kamal Uddin Haider, Controller of Examinations of the Dhaka Secondary and Higher Secondary Education Board, confirmed the development on Saturday, October 25, afternoon.

“This year, 66,150 candidates applied for re-evaluation under the Dhaka Board. Many of them applied to review more than one answer script, which is why the total number of re-evaluation applications stands at 1,36,506,” he said.

The unusually high volume of re-evaluation requests follows this year’s record-low pass rate, which has triggered widespread frustration among students and guardians across the country.

Professor Haider added that the results of the re-evaluation process will be published within a month of the original HSC results.

Education analysts say the surge in applications reflects both the severity of the results and the growing demand for greater transparency and accuracy in the evaluation process.
