The Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) has clarified that the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) is not conducting any investigation against its Director General (DG), Major General Mohammad Ashrafuzzaman Siddiqui. The statement comes in response to a report on the online news portal Dhakatruth.com.
In a post on its official Facebook page at 12:18 am on Saturday, BGB addressed the article titled: “ACC’s intelligence unit conducting secret probe into nine army officers including BGB DG.” The BGB described the report as entirely fabricated, false, and baseless.
The post stated that following the publication, BGB made preliminary contact with the ACC and learnt that no such investigation is underway against the current DG. It added that other allegations mentioned in the report are being propagated either because no response was received to an unjust application by an individual or as part of a deliberate attempt to spread fabricated, baseless claims.
The post emphasized that the DG is known for his integrity in both professional and personal life and does not tolerate any wrongdoing. BGB strongly believes that such misleading news aims to confuse the public and tarnish the reputation of a respected force. The organization called for responsible journalism and urged media outlets to refrain from spreading distorted information that goes against national interests.
