EC finalises 42,761 polling centres in 300 constituencies

The Election Commission on Monday released the final list of 42,761 polling stations across the country for the 13th parliamentary election, scheduled to be held in early February 2026 — an increase of around 611 from the 2024 national election.

“We’ve finalised the list of polling stations. The total number is 42,761 across 300 constituencies in 64 districts,” EC Senior Secretary Akhtar Ahmed said at a press briefing at the city’s Nirbachan Bhaban.

He said there will be nearly 2,45,000 polling booths — 1,15,137 for male voters and 1,29,602 for female voters — inside the 42,761 polling stations.

“On average, each polling station will serve about 3,000 voters,” the EC Secretary added.

According to the EC’s updated voter list published on August 31, the total number of voters in Bangladesh stands at 12.64 crore (12,63,07,504).

Earlier, on September 10, the Commission had disclosed a draft list of 42,618 polling stations for the 13th parliamentary election.

The EC official also mentioned that the number of polling stations was 42,150 in the 12th parliamentary election held on January 7, 2024.
