Six more people have died from dengue fever transmitted by Aedes mosquitoes across the country, while 983 others were admitted to hospitals in the past 24 hours.
With these latest cases, the death toll from dengue this year has risen to 269, and the total number of confirmed patients has reached 66,423.
The information was released on Monday (27 October) in a regular dengue update from the Health Emergency Operation Centre and Control Room of the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).
According to the health directorate, among those admitted in the last 24 hours: 141 were in Barishal Division, 111 in Chattogram Division, 171 in Dhaka Division, 227 in Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC), 133 in Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC), 62 in Khulna Division, 41 in Mymensingh Division, 78 in Rajshahi Division, 12 in Rangpur Division, and seven in Sylhet Division.
Of the six deaths reported in the same period, four occurred in DNCC, one in DSCC, and one in Barishal Division.
During this period, 970 dengue patients were discharged from hospitals. So far this year, 63,414 patients have recovered and been discharged.
In 2024, a total of 101,214 people were affected by dengue in the country, with 575 deaths. By comparison, in 2023, the country recorded 1,705 dengue-related deaths, with 321,179 patients admitted to hospitals.
