A London-bound Biman Bangladesh Airlines aircraft sustained engine damage after colliding with the boarding bridge at Osmani International Airport in Sylhet on Wednesday morning, preventing the flight from taking off. An alternative arrangement has been made to transfer the passengers to another aircraft arriving from Dhaka.
According to airport sources, Biman Bangladesh Airlines flight BG 202, carrying 262 passengers, was scheduled to depart from Sylhet to London at 10:25 am. Before takeoff, the aircraft’s engine came into contact with the boarding bridge, causing minor damage. As a result, the flight was delayed, and passengers were later moved to a replacement aircraft from Dhaka.
Md Hafiz Ahmed, Director of the airport, said the aircraft’s engine was slightly damaged while the boarding bridge was being removed. He added that the flight will not depart until necessary measures are taken. The replacement aircraft is scheduled to depart for London at 2:30 pm.
