Metro rail service line relocation begins in Badda

Under the construction project of the underground metro rail MRT Line-1, the relocation of service lines began on Thursday (October 30) at 10 pm in the North Badda and Badda metro station areas of the capital. As a result, heavy traffic congestion may occur on this route.

Dhaka Mass Transit Company Limited (DMTCL) has requested commuters and drivers to allow sufficient time for their journeys.

In a press release issued on Wednesday (October 29), DMTCL said that the country’s first underground metro rail — the Dhaka Mass Rapid Transit Development Project (Line-1) — is currently under construction with the aim of easing traffic congestion and protecting the environment. During the service line relocation work, traffic congestion may occur on Bir Uttam Rafiqul Islam Sarani.

The statement further requested commuters and drivers using this route to start their journeys early and, if possible, use alternative roads.

DMTCL also sought public cooperation in the interest of ongoing development activities and apologised for the temporary inconvenience.
