The Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) on Monday announced the names of its candidates for 237 parliamentary constituencies ahead of the upcoming 13th Jatiya Sangsad elections.
BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir unveiled the list at a press conference held at the party chairperson’s political office in Gulshan, Dhaka, on Monday evening, November 3.
He said the list is provisional and may be revised before the final submission of nominations. “This is not the final list. Some changes may take place following further review,” he told reporters.
Fakhrul also confirmed that BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia has been nominated to contest from the Dinajpur-3, Bogura-7, and Feni-1 constituencies, marking her symbolic return to the electoral lineup.
Members of the BNP Standing Committee and joint organizing secretaries were present at the press conference, where Fakhrul read out the names of candidates and highlighted the party’s readiness to participate in what he described as a “critical election for the nation’s future.”
Party insiders said BNP’s nomination board finalised the list after weeks of internal screening and consultation with divisional leaders, taking into account both grassroots recommendations and the candidates’ political track records.
The announcement signals the BNP’s intensifying preparations for the polls, as major parties begin to reveal their electoral strategies and candidate lineups for the 13th Jatiya Sangsad elections.
