The National Citizen Party (NCP), has been registered with the Election Commission as a political party.
Two other parties – Bangladesh Aamjanagan Party and Bangladesh Samajtantrik Dal (Marxist) – have also secured EC registration.
Election Commission's Senior Secretary Akhtar Ahmed provided this information at Nirbachan Bhaban in Dhaka's Agargaon area on Tuesday, November 4.
On February 28 this year, the organisers of the July Mass Uprising 2024 launched the National Citizen Party, naming Nahid Islam and Akhtar Hossain as the party’s convener, and member secretary respectively.
Recently, the Election Commission (EC) allocated electoral symbol ‘Shapla Koli’ (water lily bud) to the NCP amid its demand for ‘Water Lily’.
Though, the party instantly rejected Shapla Koli symbol but later it accepted this as its electoral symbol.
