Eight Islamic parties have announced a grand rally in Dhaka on 11 November, demanding a referendum before the national election and the issuance of an order to implement the July National Charter, among five key demands.
The announcement was made on Thursday (6 November) at 1:45 pm during a press briefing at the Matsya Bhaban intersection in the capital, following the submission of a memorandum to the Chief Adviser. The briefing was delivered by Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami Secretary General, Professor Mia Golam Parwar.
He said that the Director General of the Chief Adviser’s Office had been assigned to receive the memorandum, but they insisted on submitting it directly to the Chief Adviser. Following the Chief Adviser’s instructions, Industries Adviser Adilur Rahman later received the memorandum.
Golam Parwar added that the top leaders of the eight parties discussed the memorandum with Adilur Rahman and read it aloud to him. The Industries Adviser did not oppose any of their demands and assured them that he would discuss the five demands with the Chief Adviser.
He further noted that the Industries Adviser reminded them of the importance of mutual discussions among political parties.
Warning the government, Golam Parwar said that before the massive gathering of millions in Dhaka on 11 November, the government should respect the five demands and make a swift decision. Otherwise, the situation in Dhaka could take a different turn.
The press briefing was attended by top leaders of the eight parties, including Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami, Islami Andolan Bangladesh, Khelafat Majlish, Bangladesh Khelafat Majlish, Bangladesh Khelafat Andolan, Bangladesh Nezame Islam Party, Jatiya Ganotantrik Party (JAGPA), and Bangladesh Development Party.
