Bangladesh’s viral sensation and social media star Ashraful Alam, popularly known as Hero Alam, is gearing up to enter national politics once again – this time not as an independent, but reportedly under the banner of Gono Odhikar Parishad, led by VP Nurul Haque Nur.
Sources close to Alam confirmed that the entertainer-turned-politician has already held several meetings with VP Nur, with the student leader even visiting Hero Alam’s office to finalise discussions.
While Hero Alam remained tight-lipped, he hinted at a major announcement soon.
“I will tell everything when the time comes,” he told Jago News. “But I can say this much – this time, I will contest under a party, not as an independent. You’ll know in a few days which one.”
Hero Alam also revealed that he plans to contest from two constituencies – Dhaka-17 and Bogura-4, both of which hold emotional significance for him.
“I have a special relationship with the people of these areas. When I announced my intention to run, many people called and encouraged me. So, I thought – why not from both places?”
In Dhaka-17, Hero Alam is expected to face a tough battle, with Andaleeve Rahman Partho of the Bangladesh Jatiya Party (BJP) and several other party candidates likely to join the race.
Meanwhile, in Bogura-4 (Kahalu-Nandigram), BNP’s Mosharraf Hossain is emerging as a potential contender, promising yet another competitive showdown.
Hero Alam, who rose from humble beginnings to internet stardom through his music videos and viral content, has previously contested elections independently – often making headlines for his resilience and unconventional campaign style.
This time, however, his move to join VP Nur’s camp signals a new political chapter for the maverick entertainer – one that could blur the lines between celebrity charisma and populist politics on the campaign trail.
