Engine fire suspends Mymensingh–Netrokona train services

A fire broke out on the engine of a Balaka Commuter Train in Mymensingh on Tuesday (November 11) around 10:30 am, disrupting rail services on the Mymensingh–Netrokona route. The incident occurred between Shambhuganj and Biskar areas in Mymensingh Sadar.

Confirming the matter to Jago News, Officer-in-Charge of Mymensingh Railway Police Md. Akhtar Hossain said the train, which had departed from Dhaka, was heading towards Jaria in Netrokona. As it reached the area between Shambhuganj and Biskar, a mechanical fault caused the engine to catch fire.

The engine was immediately stopped, and passengers panicked as thick smoke filled the train, prompting a quick evacuation.

Currently, train services on the Mymensingh–Netrokona line remain suspended. The OC added that a replacement engine is being brought to the scene. No casualties have been reported.
