5 vehicles set on fire in Dhaka, 3 other districts

At least five vehicles were set on fire in Dhaka, Munshiganj, Tangail, and Gopalganj in the early hours of Thursday ahead of the ‘Dhaka Lockdown’ programme announced by the Awami League. No casualties were reported in the incidents.

Rozina Akter, duty officer at the Fire Service control room, confirmed the information on Thursday.

According to the Fire Service, a bus belonging to Trust Transport Service, parked on Sagupta Road in Pallabi, Dhaka, was set on fire around 12:10 am. Two Fire Service units extinguished the fire within 20 minutes, but the bus was already damaged by the blaze.

Around 2:45 am, a Human Hauler (Laguna) parked in front of Kamalapur Railway Station in Dhaka was also set on fire. Multiple Fire Service units quickly brought the fire under control.

In Tangail, a bus parked in Raowail was set on fire around 2:30 am. No one was inside, and several Fire Service units managed to extinguish the fire.

In Munshiganj, a truck parked in front of a paper mill in Gazaria was set ablaze after 3:30 am. The Fire Service controlled the fire after receiving the report.

In Gopalganj, a pickup van parked in front of the Public Works Department office was set on fire around 4:45 am. The van was completely burnt before the Fire Service could reach the scene.
