Jago News journo wins Nagad-DRU Best Reporting Award

Senior reporter Salah Uddin Jasim of Jago News won the ‘Nagad-DRU Best Reporting Award 2025’ presented by the Dhaka Reporters Unity (DRU) on Sunday.

He was recognised for his investigative reports titled “Newly self-claimed freedom fighter fraudulently withdrawing allowances” and “Scramble for certificate after the death of a freedom fighter.”

The award was presented to Salah Uddin at 11:00 am at the auditorium of the International Mother Language Institute in Segunbagicha, Dhaka, along with Tk 50,000 and a crest.

The ceremony was attended by Dr Salehuddin Ahmed, Finance Adviser, as the chief guest. Special guests included Dr Ahsan H. Mansur, Governor of Bangladesh Bank; Kaizar Ahmed Chowdhury, Chairman of Nagad; and Md Motashim Billah, Administrator of Nagad.

Also present were Jury Board Chairman Shamsul Haque Zahid, DRU President Abu Saleh Akan, and DRU General Secretary Mainul Hasan Sohel.

Salah Uddin Jasim completed his master’s degree at the Institute of Social Welfare and Research, University of Dhaka. He began his journalism career at the online news portal DhakaTimes24.com and later worked at BanglaNews24.com, Daily Jugantor, Paribartan.com, and Daily Khola Kagoj. He joined JagoNews24.com on 18 January 2021 as a senior reporter.

He is a permanent member of the Dhaka Reporters Unity and also belongs to the Dhaka Union of Journalists (DUJ), DUJ Multipurpose Cooperative Society, and the Bangladesh Federal Union of Journalists (BFUJ). He serves as Joint Secretary of the Cumilla Journalists Forum, Dhaka.

Although he started his career as a political reporter, Salah Uddin has also covered administration, education, crime, women and children, health, human rights, and religion. His professional assignments have taken him to Saudi Arabia, Malaysia, and Thailand. He previously received the Bashundhara Media Award 2021 for investigative journalism.
