The Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) has been deployed across Dhaka, Gopalganj, Faridpur and Madaripur districts to help maintain public security and law and order.
This was confirmed by BGB Public Relations Officer Md Shariful Islam on Sunday afternoon, November 16.
He stated that the deployment is a proactive measure aimed at preventing further unrest and ensuring the safety of civilians amid a recent spike in violent incidents.
BGB personnel are conducting intensified foot and vehicle patrols in high-risk zones, including transport hubs, market areas, and major roadways.
Surveillance has been stepped up using both human intelligence and technological monitoring, with checkpoints established at strategic entry and exit points to deter and detect suspicious behaviour.
The move follows a troubling week in which multiple incidents of crude bomb attacks – commonly referred to as “cocktail explosions” – have been reported across the capital and surrounding districts.
In addition, several buses and stretches of highway have been deliberately set ablaze, causing widespread alarm among the public and disrupting daily life.
In response, BGB has intensified coordination with the Bangladesh Police, local unions, and district administrations to share real-time intelligence and synchronise response efforts.
Joint operations are now underway to identify and apprehend individuals linked to these acts of vandalism and intimidation.
Authorities have also appealed to the public to remain vigilant, report any unusual activity, and avoid areas where tensions are high. Officials emphasised that the priority remains the protection of life and property, and that those responsible for inciting violence will be held accountable under the law.
