Khaleda meets Yunus at Armed Forces Day reception

On the sidelines of the Armed Forces Day reception at Dhaka Cantonment, Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus held a one-on-one meeting with BNP Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia and exchanged pleasantries at Senakunja on Friday.

During the meeting, the Chief Adviser inquired about the current health of the former Prime Minister and wished her good health,” said Chief Adviser’s Deputy Press Secretary Abul Kalam Azad Majumder.

Khaleda Zia thanked the Chief Adviser in return and also inquired about the health of his wife Afrozi Yunus, extending her good wishes.

Syeda Shamila Rahman Sithi, the youngest daughter-in-law of Khaleda Zia, was present during the meeting.

Khaleda Zia reached Senakunja around 4:00pm, where she was received by Army Chief General Waker-uz-Zaman and senior officials of the Armed Forces.

She was accompanied in the same car by Syeda Sharmila Rahman Sithi, wife of her late younger son Arafat Rahman Koko. The BNP chairperson left Senakunja around 5:27pm.

The Armed Forces Division, under the Office of the Chief Adviser, had earlier sent formal invitations to the BNP chairperson, Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman, the Secretary General, and other senior leaders on the occasion of Armed Forces Day.

Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus attended the reception as the chief guest.

Armed Forces Day is being observed today with various programmes, commemorating the formation of Bangladesh’s Army, Navy, and Air Force during the 1971 Liberation War.

Khaleda Zia also attended the Armed Forces Day reception at Senakunja last year, marking her first appearance at the programme in 12 years.
