Security tightened at Evercare Hospital

Security has been tightened at Evercare Hospital in Dhaka early Tuesday in view of BNP Chairperson and former Prime Minister Begum Khaleda Zia’s health condition.

According to police and hospital sources, law enforcement personnel erected barricades at the hospital’s main entrance around 2:00 am. Only authorised individuals are being allowed inside, while the public is prevented from gathering near the premises.

Hospital authorities said the additional deployment aims to ensure smooth movement for patients and their families, manage crowd control around the facility, and provide enhanced protection for Khaleda Zia.

Earlier on Monday, BNP Vice Chairman Advocate Ahmed Azam Khan said Khaleda Zia is in a very critical condition.

“Whether we say from CCU to ICU, or from ICU to ventilation, whatever we say, Madam is in a very critical condition. There is nothing more to say beyond this. We only ask the nation to pray for Madam,” he said.

The 79-year-old Khaleda Zia has been suffering from various health problems for a long time, including liver complications and decreased kidney function. She was admitted to Evercare Hospital in Dhaka on 23 November.
