BSF pushes 30 people in through Meherpur border

The Indian Border Security Force (BSF) pushed in a total of 30 people through the Tetulbaria border in Gangni Upazila, Meherpur, early Wednesday.

According to a press release from the Bangladesh Border Guard (BGB), the individuals were pushed in approximately 100 yards inside the border from pillar 140/6 of the Tetulbaria BOP area. They are residents of various districts in Bangladesh and are reportedly involved in illegal entry into India through brokers. The group had previously been detained by Indian authorities and held in a Kolkata prison before being returned to the Bangladesh border by the BSF.

Among those pushed in, 16 were men, 10 women, and 4 children.

Gangni Police Station’s Officer-in-Charge (OC) Boni Israel said that after completing legal formalities, the individuals will be handed over to their respective families.
