JnU students' union polls deferred again

The Jagannath University authorities have again deferred the central students' union elections and announced the polls will now be held on December 30, originally scheduled for December 22.

The decision comes when the university opens on December 8 after a 14-day vacation.

The authorities had closed the university from November 23 to 27 and shut online classes from November 30 to December 4 amid demand following several earthquakes in the capital.

After the syndicate meeting, the chief election commissioner for the students' union polls, prof Mostafa Hasan, hoped they could complete all the formalities in time and hold a fair election.

Earlier, on November 5, the administration announced elections to the Jagannath University Central Students’ Union and Hall Unions will take place on December 22.
