Dr Zubaida Rahman, wife of BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman, visited her mother-in-law, BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia, at Evercare Hospital in Dhaka on Friday (December 5). She entered the hospital at 11:54 am.
Hospital sources said several party leaders were present outside, and journalists had gathered at the site. However, Dr Zubaida Rahman did not speak to the media upon arrival.
Security around the hospital has been tightened in recent days as Khaleda Zia continues her treatment. The presence of senior party leaders visiting the hospital regularly has also increased the crowd.
While Zubaida Rahman’s visit sparked discussions within the BNP, party officials declined to comment officially. Multiple party sources, however, confirmed that the leaders visited to check on Khaleda Zia’s health and coordinate any necessary arrangements.
Earlier in the day, Zubaida Rahman arrived in Dhaka as part of preparations to take her mother-in-law to London for advanced medical treatment. Her flight from London landed at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport at 10:45 am.
