CEC meets President ahead of polls schedule announcement

Ahead of the announcement of the schedule for the 13th national parliamentary elections and the referendum, an Election Commission (EC) delegation led by Chief Election Commissioner AMM Nasir Uddin met with President Mohammed Shahabuddin on Wednesday (10 December).

The five-member EC delegation met the President at 12:30 pm and left Bangabhaban around 2:00 pm. However, the delegation avoided speaking to the media after the meeting. Although journalists had been waiting in front of Bangabhaban since 11:00 am, the delegation did not make any comments.

Meanwhile, the Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) is scheduled to record his address at the Election Commission headquarters in Agargaon. Security around the Election Commission building has been tightened since morning.

As per tradition, the President is informed of all preparations before the announcement of the election schedule. The CEC then announces the schedule through a televised address aired on BTV and Bangladesh Betar.
