Six members of the Bangladesh Army serving as United Nations peacekeepers were killed in a terrorist attack on a UN base in Abyei, Sudan, on Saturday night.
The Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) confirmed the incident in a press release issued on Saturday, December 13.
According to the ISPR, the UN base in the conflict-prone Abyei region came under attack by terrorists, killing six Bangladeshi peacekeepers and injuring eight others.
The fighting was ongoing at the time of the statement.
The Bangladesh Army expressed deep sorrow over the loss of its personnel, who were deployed under the UN flag to maintain peace and stability in the region.
