BNP candidate for the Narayanganj-5 constituency (Sadar-Bandar), Masuduzzaman Masud, has withdrawn his candidacy from the 13th parliamentary election, citing concerns over personal and family security.
Masud announced this at a view exchange with journalists at Narayanganj Press Club on Tuesday afternoon, December 16.
“Actually, I will not contest the elections. I had to make this decision due to personal and surrounding circumstances, he said in reply to a query from the reporters.
“My family members are afraid of me and do not want me to compete in the elections. Besides, there are some security issues which I cannot describe,” Masud added.
The BNP leader also said, “The entire environment is negative. Considering everything, I have decided to pull out of the election race.”
