BNP collects nominations for Khaleda, Tarique in Bogura

Nomination papers have been collected on behalf of BNP’s Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia and acting chairman Tarique Rahman for the Bogura-7 (Gabtoli-Shajahanpur) and Bogura-6 (Sadar) constituencies, respectively.

Helaluzzaman Talukdar Lalu, election coordinator and former MP, collected the nomination papers from the District Election Office on Gohail Road on behalf of Khaleda Zia for Bogura-7 on Sunday (21 December) at around 1:30 pm. District and upazila BNP leaders and activists were present during the process.

After collecting the nomination, Helaluzzaman said, “The people of Bogura-7 consider Khaleda Zia not just as a leader but as their guardian. Just as they have voted for her in the past, this time they are ready to respond to her with even greater support at the polls.”

Earlier the same day, at around 12:30 pm, Rezaul Karim Badsha, president of the Bogura district BNP, collected the nomination papers on behalf of Tarique Rahman from the office of the Deputy Commissioner for Bogura-6 (Sadar). Present on the occasion were former district BNP presidents Advocate AKM Mahbubur Rahman, former convener and ex-MP Golam Mohammad Siraj, former vice president Saiful Islam, city BNP president Hamidul Haque Chowdhury Hiru, Sadar Upazila BNP president Mahftun Ahmed Khan Rubel, and other senior party leaders.

Although a large number of party activists were present near the Deputy Commissioner’s office and the District Election Office due to concerns over potential election code violations, they did not enter the offices during the nomination process.

After collecting the nomination, Rezaul said, “Tarique Rahman will contest the election from Bogura Sadar. This is not just a candidacy; it is a political message. The people of Bogura see him as national leadership material, and they are eager to vote for the ‘Dhaner Sheesh’ symbol.”
