BNP collects nomination form for Khaleda Zia in Bogura-7

Senior leaders of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) on Monday collected the nomination form for party Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia from the Bogura-7 (Gabtali–Shajahanpur) constituency ahead of the 13th parliamentary elections.

The nomination form was collected from the office of the Gabtali Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) and Assistant Returning Officer Mohammad Hafizur Rahman.

According to party sources, Helaluzzaman Talukdar Lalu, a former member of parliament, adviser to the BNP chairperson and coordinator of the Bogura-7 election, received the nomination form on behalf of Khaleda Zia.

Speaking on the occasion, Lalu said Bogura-7 is Khaleda Zia’s home constituency and that local residents are eagerly awaiting her candidacy. “She is expected to take part in the election through legal and political processes,” he said, adding that, in line with the demands of party activists, nomination forms are being collected from three constituencies, with another to be collected later in Shajahanpur in the presence of local leaders.

Among those present were Gabtali Upazila BNP President Morshed Milton, General Secretary Enamul Haque, and other senior local party leaders.

Election office sources said the Bogura-7 constituency, comprising Gabtali and Shajahanpur upazilas, currently has around 5,31,000 registered voters.

The collection of the nomination form on behalf of the BNP chairperson has generated considerable enthusiasm among local party leaders and activists. Candidates will be able to submit their nomination papers within the stipulated timeframe.
