DMP bans fireworks during Christmas celebrations

The Metropolitan Police (DMP) has imposed a ban on the use of fireworks, crackers, lanterns, and gas balloons in Dhaka during the celebration of Christmas, the biggest religious festival of Christians.

The ban will remain in force from 6:00 pm on December 24 to 6:00 am on December 26, said a notification issued by the DMP.

The decision has been taken in the interest of public safety and to maintain law and order during the festive period.

DMP Commissioner SM Sajjat Ali has sought full cooperation from city dwellers to help celebrate the holy Christmas festival smoothly and safely.

The police authority emphasised that adherence to the directive will contribute to maintaining a calm and festive environment across the capital.

The DMP urged all concerned to comply with the restrictions for the greater good of public safety and communal harmony.
