Members of the Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) arrested an Indian citizen while attempting to enter the country illegally through Kowarchar border area in Lalmonirhat in the early hours of Wednesday, December 24.
The arrested was identified as Biswajit Kumar Das, 25.
A press release, issued from the Lalmonirhat BGB-15 Battalion, confirmed the arrest.
According to the press release, a patrol team from the Durgapur BOP apprehended Biswajit in the area, roughly 700 yards inside Bangladesh near border pillar 925/5-S. They also recovered Tk 820 and 800 Indian rupees, and a photocopy of his Aadhaar card from his possession.
Lt. Colonel Mehedi Imam, commander of the Lalmonirhat Battalion, said the suspect is being handed over to Aditmari Police Station for legal action.
