Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman returned to Bangladesh on Thursday, ending more than 17 years in exile in London, United Kingdom. A Biman Bangladesh Airlines flight, BG-202, carrying him, his wife, and daughter, landed at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka at 11:40 am.
After descending from the flight and exchanging greetings with family members and party activists, he left the airport around 12:30 pm. In a symbolic gesture, Tarique Rahman removed his shoes and touched the ground barefoot in front of the airport before boarding a bullet-proof bus.
Earlier, at 9:57 am, the flight had made a brief stopover at Sylhet Osmani International Airport. After the stop, it resumed its journey and touched down in Dhaka at 11:40 am.
