National Memorial under tight security ahead of Tarique’s visit

Strict security measures have been put in place at the National Martyrs' Memorial in Savar, Dhaka, ahead of the visit of BNP’s acting chairman, Tarique Rahman. Multiple layers of security now cover the memorial premises.

Since the morning, general visitors have been barred from entering. Journalists were allowed inside until 9:00 am, but after 9:30 am, entry has been restricted for all.

Members of law enforcement agencies, including RAB, police, and BGB, are maintaining alert positions not only inside the memorial complex but also at the gates and on adjacent roads.

Meanwhile, party activists from various levels have already begun gathering in front of the memorial in anticipation of Tarique Rahman’s visit and are currently positioned at the main gate.

Anwar Hossain Khan Anu, in-charge of the memorial and Deputy Assistant Engineer of the Savar Public Works Department, said, “Since the morning, entry for the general public and visitors has been closed. At 3:00 pm, the CSF will oversee security at the memorial. It will reopen for visitors after BNP’s acting chairman, Tarique Rahman, departs.”
