Madrasa teacher arrested in Chuadanga rape case

Police have arrested a madrasa teacher in connection with a rape case from Bishnupur village of Damurhuda in Chuadanga on Saturday, December 27.

The accused, Arafat Hossain Shisir, 30, a resident of Joyrampur village in the upazila, is a teacher at Darul Ulum Furkania Qawmi Madrasa.

Confirming the arrest, Damurhuda Police Station Officer-in-Charge Sheikh Mesbah Uddin said tension escalated in the area after allegations surfaced that the teacher had engaged in “inappropriate” conduct with a child student of the madrasah.

Following the allegations, local residents went to the madrasah, detained the accused and later handed him over to the police.

The OC added that Arafat was produced before a court and that the legal process is currently underway.
