Khaleda’s janaza at Manik Mia Avenue this afternoon

The namaz-e-janaza of three-time former Prime Minister, veteran leader of the democratic movement and BNP Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia will be held at Manik Mia Avenue in the capital Dhaka after Zuhr prayers at around 2:00 pm on Wednesday.

Instead of the South Plaza of the Jatiya Sangsad, the coffin will be placed at the western end of Manik Mia Avenue, while the janaza will be held across the inner ground of the Jatiya Sangsad, its outer premises and the entire stretch of Manik Mia Avenue, the Chief Adviser’s Press Wing said on Tuesday night.

Security forces and all concerned state agencies are making necessary preparations to ensure that people from all walks of life can pay their last tributes to the national leader and participate in the janaza without hindrance.

Arrangements are also being taken to allow people to stand along the surrounding roads of Manik Mia Avenue.

After the janaza, Khaleda Zia will be laid to eternal rest with state honour beside the grave of Shaheed President and valiant freedom fighter Ziaur Rahman at around 3:30 pm.

Family members of Begum Khaleda Zia, senior state dignitaries, government officials, foreign guests, ambassadors and BNP-nominated political leaders will be present during the burial.

To ensure the smooth completion of the burial, entry will be restricted to designated persons only. Public movement in Zia Udyan at Sher-e-Bangla Nagar in the city will remain limited until the burial process is completed.
