BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman on Thursday expressed heartfelt thanks to the individuals and government organisations that helped manage the funeral of his mother, former Prime Minister Begum Khaleda Zia.
In a Facebook post at 7:00 am, Tarique Rahman acknowledged the Bangladesh Army, Navy, and Air Force for maintaining order and discipline throughout the day. He also thanked personnel from the Home Adviser’s office, Police, BGB, Ansar & VDP, RAB, and APBn for ensuring the safety and smooth movement of mourners.
He further recognised the contributions of intelligence and security agencies, including DGFI, NSI, and the Special Branch (SB), for their vigilance, and commended public servants and staff from multiple ministries, including Foreign Affairs, Housing, Information, Law, Cultural Affairs, and Religious Affairs, for their coordination efforts.
Tarique Rahman also appreciated journalists from home and abroad for their dedication in covering the funeral under challenging conditions, and extended thanks to Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus and members of his advisory council for guiding the proceedings.
“On behalf of my family, I thank each of you, not as institutions, but as people, for the empathy, respect, and sense of duty you showed at a time when we were grieving a great loss,” he said, noting that their efforts allowed the nation to honor his mother’s memory with dignity.
