Following similar moves in Delhi and Agartala, the Bangladesh government has temporarily suspended all visa services at its Deputy High Commission in Kolkata, except for business and work visas. The decision came into effect on Wednesday, January 7.
A reliable source in Kolkata said that consular services and visa operations have been suspended for all categories, including tourist visas, while business and work visas will continue to be processed. The interim government reportedly made the decision considering the safety of Indian citizens residing in Bangladesh.
A Deputy High Commission official in Kolkata confirmed that all visa services are temporarily suspended, except for business and work visas.
Earlier, on December 22, the Bangladesh High Commission in Delhi, the Assistant High Commission in Agartala, and the Visa Centre in Siliguri had also temporarily suspended visa issuance and consular services. These missions have continued to keep visa and consular operations on hold since then.
