Case filed over murder of Swechchhasebak Dal leader

A case has been filed against five to six people in connection with the murder of Swechchhasebak Dal leader Azizur Rahman Musabbir near Bashundhara City in the capital on Wednesday night. 

Tejgaon Police Station OC Kaisainu said Suraiya Begum, wife of the victim, filed the case on Thursday morning.

Azizur Rahman Musabbir, former member secretary of Dhaka City North Swechchhasebak Dal, the volunteer wing of BNP, was shot dead and another man Sufian Byapari Masud, 42, was injured when miscreants opened fire on them in the area on Wednesday night. 

The injured man was taken to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH), police said.

Inspector Md Faruk, in charge of the DMCH police camp, said Masud sustained a gunshot wound to the left side of his abdomen. 

Mohammad Javed, who brought Masud to the hospital, said Masud is the general secretary of Tejgaon thana Van Workers’ Union and a resident of Keraniganj.

Police said efforts are underway to identify the attackers by reviewing CCTV footage from nearby establishments.
