The Election Commission (EC) has declared valid the nomination paper of Jamaat-e-Islami Assistant Secretary General Hamidur Rahman Azad for Cox's Bazar-4 constituency.
The decision came after a hearing of his appeal against the cancellation of his nomination paper at the Nirbachan Bhaban in Dhaka's Agargaon on Saturday, January 10.
Azad's lawyer, Barrister Mahmud Al Mamun Himu, confirmed the matter.
On January 2, the Commission scrapped Azad's nomination paper for Cox's Bazar-4 constituency (Maheshkhali-Kutubdia) after scrutiny.
Sources in the returning officer's office stated that Azad's nomination paper was rejected due to issues related to cases.
