Indian High Commissioner to Bangladesh Pranay Verma on Saturday paid a courtesy call on BNP Chairman Tarique Rahman, during which the two sides discussed issues of bilateral interest between Bangladesh and India.
The Indian envoy arrived at Tarique Rahman’s Gulshan office around 5:00pm and held a meeting with him for nearly an hour, BNP Media Cell member Sayerul Kabir Khan said.
Several matters of mutual interest were discussed during the meeting, although no further details were disclosed.
BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, Standing Committee member Salahuddin Ahmed, and Joint Secretary General Humayun Kabir were also present at the meeting.
Earlier in the day, Tarique Rahman held a separate meeting at the same office with Dr Ivars Ijabs, Member of the European Parliament and Chief Observer of the EU Election Observation Mission.
